Plants have a hard time competing for toddler attention in these times of smartphones, Ipads and fast-paced, animated everything. So when our 4-year-old granddaughter came to visit last month, I tried to think of a fun way to get her outside in the gardens.
What I came up with was a sort of hide-and-go-seek game in which I cut off a plant part and had little Leona try to figure out where in the yard it came from.
It worked out nicely… until the stinking, lousy black flies starting biting her.
My (Aug 1st) website post goes into details about the game, in case you’d like to give it a try with your kids or grandkids.
